Learn more about our path to the present day. We like to look back on the past few years. We celebrated some high points but also a few low points, which we successfully mastered together with TEP and your support.

Construction of the first school building in the Palabek refugee camp
The situation of southern Sudanese refugees in northern Uganda is still dramatic. The UNO speaks of the currently fastest growing refugee camps worldwide. For months, an average of 2,000 refugees have been crossing the border in northern Uganda every day, seeking asylum there.
We would like to stick to our task and now enable "school education for everyone" in the refugee camp in Palabek.
A piece of land has already been made available to TEP for a school. The land has been cleared and temporary shelters are being built. This means that lessons can also take place when it rains.

Persistent unrest in Pajok

School closed
Unfortunately, terrible things have happened in Pajok, South Sudan, where we run schools together with TEP.
After the area was more or less quietly within the sphere of influence of the opposition (Nuer) and there was no immediate danger, government troops (Dinkas) marched, arbitrarily murdered, looted and triggered a wave of escape.
But there is still good news for the supported students. Some were able to get very good jobs:
-
Amal Joska is a lecturer at the University in Juba
-
Adong Kena Kennedy works for an NGO
-
Obale Joseph works for the British Embassy
-
Ogak Alvin works for a medical supply
-
Nicholas Obwoya works for an NGO
-
Ochen Grancis is Finance Manager at Doctors Without Borders

Over 40,000 people lived in Pajok in 2006, including an estimated 25,000 children. It had no power supply, no communication and no school for the many children living there.
Together with our partner TEP we were able to build a temporary school facility which enabled up to 2,500 children to go to school .

The association is formed!
Kathy and Hans - Peter Rüegg (current board members) lived in Kenya for a few years and met Jackson Olega (head of TEP) there. In their years of friendship, they have heard and learned a lot about his organization TEP. It was important to them to continue supporting him and his organization after moving back to Switzerland after 8 years. Together with Daniel Baldenweg and his wife Elisabeth, they organized a meeting in Uganda to get to know Jackson Olega and his team. After this trip, the decision was made to found an association that financially supports the aid organization TEP in Uganda.
This is how the Together association came to life, which continues to support the financing of TEP to this day.
